Tina : 1. Hi Dutch How is your Art Business going are you busy this time of year?
Dutch: The business is going well....its not at where I'd like to see it as of yet....but the work is out there in the public eye...and more so this time of year ....with a g00d responce thats about all ya can ask for for now.
Tina : 2. Can you tell us a little about your background and how you became and illustrator/graphic designer?
Dutch: I always was into illustrating...I have some votech experience, but most of it has been self taught and alot of practice with a little of my unique style.


Tina : 3. From your work at http://dutchmandesigns.biz.ly it is evident that you use a variety of styles including pen and ink, mabe some computer graphics, which way of working is your preferred method?
Dutch: I prefer using pen & ink for cart00ning.

Tina : 4. What is the media of your choice?
Dutch: Pen ink marker etc...

Tina : 5. Can you elaborate on your design process from the point you take on a project to presenting the final work?
Dutch: The design process is usually the idea...the sketch...inked and depending on what it is and what Im using it for...the color...presenting it is usually face to face or compt...
Tina : 6. Do keep a scrapbook much like a Artist's journal which consists of all your roughed out ideas that you begin when you design or draw?
Dutch: I have scrapbooks folders notebooks etc...alot of ideas and sketches go in there there and I go back to them.
Tina : 7. What inspires you to design and draw and keeps you motivated when things get tough in your studio?
Dutch: The ideas are always flowing through the brain...if Im not really into drawing at the moment...Its notes I leave for a later time.

Tina : 8. How have you handled the business side of being an Artist?
Dutch: I handle requests for custom work such as custom tatt00n designs custom humor (cart00ns) for t-shirts etc...
Tina : 9. What Artist's or Painters have influenced you and how?
Dutch: Don Martin, the man known as Mad’s Maddest Artist
Max Fleischer popular and world famous character, Betty Boop Alphonse Mucha
Tina : 10. Have you recieved special training for your design and drawing or is this a natural talent?
Dutch: Its pretty much a natural thing...self taught...reading different styles etc...

Tina : 11. What is your latest series of designs and drawings and what are you trying to achieve with them?
Dutch: Basicly I have designed a series of humorous cart00ns and plan to eventually put them on t-shirts mugs licence plates hats etc...
Tina : 12. What advice would you give to an artist/illustrator starting out in this business?
Dutch: Best advice is to keep doing it practice...eat it sleep it 25 hrs a day 8 days a week.

Tina : 13. Do you find competition in Graphic Arts and Illustrating overwhelming in the area where you live and is there a demand for jobs with your talent?
Dutch: I dont compete...ya either dig my stuff or ya dont simple as that...
Tina : 14. How has the internet helping you as a marketing tool to present your work to the general public?
Dutch: The internet is just another t00l just as a pencil pen and paper...I have always marketed locally with the internet it just branches out further into the public eye...and thats fine as far as Im concerned.
Tina : 15. What are your hopes and plans for the future?
Dutch: Like I stated before I hope to start putting the designs on shirts / hats licence plates mugs etc...its pretty much a financial thing thats holding that up.
